While at Saqsaywaman, I was last in the tour, as usual. I had no one around to take a picture of me so I set my camera down on a rock and set it to auto. After the picture was taken I went back to the rock to pick up my camera. I then noticed the beautiful blue bell looking flower, growing wild. After taking a couple of shots of the flower, I noticed something. 'What is that' I thought. After looking at is closer, I realized it was a big black spider! I started to take even more shots of the spider, which I originally thought was fake since it was perfectly smooth and had to apparent tecture to it. I saw a couple coming down the path and I called out to them in Spanish to come look. Luckily, they spoke English and were from Arizona. I showed the woman the spider and she quickly informed me that it was a black widow spider! Being from New Jersey I had no idea what kind of spider it was. I backed up fast, but she told me not to worry because they do not jump. I began to take even closer pictures and the spider seemed as though she was modeling for me; she stuck a pose and you can even see her red spot on her belly in this photo.
I am a full time college student. I study History and hope to work in the field one day. I have worked as a sales associate/lead cashier at my job for almost five years now. I am going to Peru in January and hope to document it as much as possible!
